Donald Seal
Don entered the trade in 1973 when he was hired at Arrow Aluminum Castings Company in Cleveland, Ohio. A second generation molder, Don’s father worked as a molder until he retired.
Don served as a shop steward beginning in 1975 and held a seat on his local union bargaining committee for two rounds of negotiations. He was hired by his local union 45B as an organizer and workers compensation representative in 1990. He held various local union offices and was hired as the full-time financial secretary of the statewide GMP Local Union 45B.
Don’s union education is vast, having attended GMP Summer Institute, Lorain County Community College studying labor education, Labor Organizing Study at the George Meany Center and courses offered by the Ohio State Center for Labor Studies at Ohio State University among others.
Don was elected to several AFL-CIO Conventions, GMP Quadrennial Conventions and was appointed to convention committees while still in local union office. Don was hired by the International Union July 1, 1999.
He and his wife, Betty have been married for 40 years, have two daughters and one granddaughter.
